Residents of Wali Muhammad Kor, a remote village in Loy-Shelman, tehsil Landi Kotal, have called on the Chief Minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and senior health officials to ensure the presence of doctors and paramedical staff at the Basic Health Unit (BHU) and make it functional. The local community leaders, including Malik Sharif and Sabza Ali, stated that the upgrading and construction work of the health facility has been completed, with millions of rupees spent on the project. However, despite the building being finished, the centre remains non-operational due to the absence of doctors and necessary paramedical staff, which they described as a step-motherly treatment towards them.
Healthcare Crisis in Remote Area
People living in this mountainous region continue to face serious difficulties in accessing medical treatment. They lamented that even for minor health issues, patients are forced to travel to the District Headquarters Hospital in Landi Kotal or other urban centres to seek healthcare services. The residents expressed concern that a facility built with public funds remains unused due to a lack of staff, which they said is tantamount to depriving them of their right to healthcare. They described the situation as highly unfortunate.
Urgent Appeal to Authorities
The residents urged the concerned department to appoint doctors and other necessary staff so that the health centre can begin serving the public and provide essential healthcare services at their doorstep. The plea comes as the community continues to endure hardships, with many patients unable to afford the time and cost of traveling to distant hospitals.
