YDA Protests Acid Attack on Doctor in Karachi

KARACHI: A peaceful protest was staged at the Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre (JPMC) under the banner of the Young Doctors Association (YDA) against the recent gruesome acid attack on female doctor Dr Mahnoor Nasir at Quetta's Civil Hospital. Doctors participating in the protest wore black armbands and raised slogans, condemning the incident. They said that the medical community nationwide stands in solidarity with Dr Mahnoor, adding that rising incidents of violence against medics are deeply alarming.

Demands for Justice and Security

YDA leaders, including Dr Umar Sultan, demanded that Dr Mahnoor be provided with advanced medical treatment facilities abroad. They also called for effective security arrangements in hospitals and the implementation of legislation aimed at ensuring the protection of doctors and healthcare workers. The protesters urged the government to take immediate action to prevent such attacks in the future.

The protest highlighted the growing concern among healthcare professionals regarding their safety.
