Rescue 1122 Lower Dir responded to 585 emergencies during June, providing timely rescue and medical assistance to 492 injured people and patients across the district, according to the emergency service’s monthly performance report. The incidents included 234 medical emergencies, 26 road traffic accidents, 31 fire outbreaks, four cases involving gunshot injuries and physical assaults, seven drowning incidents, and 41 recovery operations and other emergency responses.
Patient Transport and Call Volume
Apart from handling emergencies, Rescue 1122 transported 242 patients to hospitals within and outside the district on the recommendation of attending doctors. The Rescue 1122 control room received 8,037 calls during the month. Officials noted that a considerable number were either unnecessary or hoax calls, placing an avoidable strain on emergency resources and potentially affecting the service’s ability to respond swiftly to genuine emergencies.
Public Appeal for Responsible Use
The emergency service urged the public to use the 1122 helpline responsibly and only in genuine emergencies to ensure that rescue teams remain available to provide prompt and effective assistance to those in need.
