The Punjab government is providing free cardiac treatment worth Rs3 billion annually, announced Provincial Health Minister Khawaja Salman Rafique. Speaking at a press conference in Lahore, he highlighted that the initiative aims to reduce the burden of heart diseases on the poor.
Free Treatment at Public Hospitals
The minister stated that all cardiac procedures, including angioplasty and bypass surgery, are being performed free of cost at government hospitals. Over 50,000 patients have benefited from this scheme so far this year.
Investment in Healthcare Infrastructure
Rafique further revealed that the government has allocated additional funds to upgrade cardiac centers in major cities. New state-of-the-art equipment has been installed at Punjab Institute of Cardiology and other facilities.
