King Salman Hospital Construction to Begin After Nine-Year Delay

Federal Health Minister Syed Mustafa Kamal visited the under-development King Salman Hospital project site in Islamabad, announcing that construction of the long-delayed project will finally begin after nine years of inactivity. Originally launched in 2017, the hospital project had faced multiple delays, but the minister confirmed that all obstacles have now been cleared.

Project Details and Funding

The facility is being funded through a grant from Saudi Arabia, with construction to proceed via an international competitive bidding process to ensure transparency and quality. In its first phase, the project will include a 200-bed hospital costing approximately PKR 7 billion, with plans to expand it to a 600-bed facility offering eight major medical specialties. The hospital is expected to significantly improve healthcare access for residents of Tarlai and surrounding areas.

Broader Healthcare Progress

Highlighting broader healthcare progress, Kamal noted that 380 hospital beds have been added in Islamabad over the past year, while total additions rise to 6,633 beds when including facilities under the Sehat Sahulat Programme. Syed Mustafa Kamal stated that Pakistan has emerged as a force for peace, even playing a role in preventing a larger global conflict.

He emphasized that this was made possible because Allah granted significance and strength to Pakistan’s leadership and its people during this critical time. The minister also congratulated Syed Asim Munir and Shehbaz Sharif on the success of “Marka-e-Haq” and Operation Bunyan-um-Marsoos, praising national unity and leadership. He expressed optimism about Pakistan’s growing global standing and future diplomatic successes.
