ECC Approves Rs2.1 Billion for Islamabad Model Prison

The Economic Coordination Committee (ECC) of the Cabinet on Tuesday approved Rs2.1 billion for the construction of a model prison in Islamabad, as part of adjustments to development allocations for the fiscal year 2025-26. The meeting, chaired by Federal Minister for Finance and Revenue Senator Muhammad Aurangzeb, cleared several Technical Supplementary Grants (TSGs) related to ongoing development and operational requirements, according to a statement issued by the Ministry of Finance.

NADRA Project Funding

The committee approved a Rs2.19 billion TSG for the NADRA-TDP-ERP/KP-CCSDP project under the Ministry of Interior and Narcotics Control. The allocation will support continued implementation of the World Bank-financed Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Citizen-Centered Service Delivery Project.

Funds for Passport Printing

It also sanctioned Rs5 billion for the Directorate General Immigration and Passports to clear outstanding liabilities for passport booklet printing and ensure uninterrupted passport issuance services.

PSDP Allocations for Interior Division

In addition, the ECC approved Rs2.12 billion in revised allocations under the Public Sector Development Programme (PSDP) 2025-26 for three Interior Division projects, including the construction of a model prison at H-16 Islamabad, the National Police Hospital, and the Foreign National Security Cell Dashboard and allied facilities.

Helicopter Repairs for Anti-Narcotics Force

The committee further approved Rs240.5 million for the Anti-Narcotics Force (ANF) to repair helicopters in support of operational readiness.

Gas Supply for Urea Plants

Separately, it approved the continuation of gas supply arrangements for SNGPL-based urea plants, including Fatima Fertilizer and Agritech, until June 30, 2026, to ensure stable fertilizer production and availability in the domestic market.
