Outgoing Consul General of Malaysia in Karachi, Herman Hardynata Ahmed, paid a farewell visit to the Sindh Assembly on Thursday, where he met with Speaker Syed Awais Qadir Shah to discuss matters of mutual interest. The meeting took place at the Assembly building, with Secretary of the Provincial Assembly of Sindh, G.M. Umar Farooq, and Director General Media, Irfan Ahmed Memon, also in attendance.
Diplomatic Transition and New Assignment
During the meeting, Consul General Ahmed informed Speaker Shah that after completing his diplomatic responsibilities in Karachi, he would be assuming a new assignment in Putrajaya, the federal administrative capital of Malaysia, for the next three years. This transition marks the conclusion of his tenure in Pakistan's economic hub.
Strengthening Bilateral Ties
The two officials discussed a wide range of topics aimed at enhancing Pakistan-Malaysia relations, including diplomatic cooperation, economic development, regional peace, and people-to-people contacts. They also explored other areas of shared interest, underscoring the longstanding friendship between the two nations.
Exchange of Traditional Gifts
At the conclusion of the meeting, the Consul General presented Speaker Shah with Malaysia's traditional cultural headgear, known as Tanjak, as a souvenir. In return, Speaker Shah presented the Consul General with the Legacy Shield of the Provincial Assembly of Sindh, a traditional Sindhi Cap, Ajrak, and books on the history of Sindh and the Provincial Assembly of Sindh. This exchange of gifts symbolized the cultural ties and mutual respect between the two countries.
