Pakistan Reiterates Commitment to Regional Peace in High-Level Diplomatic Calls
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif emphasized Pakistan's unwavering dedication to fostering peace and stability across the region during a significant telephone conversation with Kuwait's Crown Prince, Sheikh Sabah Al Khaled Al Hamad Al Sabah, on Friday. This high-level exchange underscored Pakistan's proactive diplomatic stance amid ongoing regional tensions.
Solidarity with Kuwait Amid Crisis
In a warm and cordial dialogue, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif strongly condemned the recent attacks targeting Kuwait, expressing Pakistan's full solidarity and support for the Kuwaiti people during these challenging times. He extended heartfelt condolences for the loss of precious lives and offered prayers for the swift recovery of those injured, highlighting the deep bilateral ties between the two nations.
The Prime Minister also apprised the Kuwaiti leadership of Pakistan's sincere diplomatic efforts aimed at bringing an end to the conflict in the Middle East. He detailed Pakistan's role as a mediator, particularly in facilitating dialogue between Iran and the United States, to de-escalate hostilities and promote a peaceful resolution.
Kuwait's Endorsement and Future Engagements
In response, the Crown Prince of Kuwait expressed deep appreciation for Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif's leadership and fully endorsed Pakistan's mediation efforts. He conveyed gratitude for Pakistan's steadfast support during the current crisis, specifically acknowledging a recent letter of solidarity from the Prime Minister. Furthermore, the Crown Prince expressed a strong desire to visit Pakistan as soon as the regional situation improves, signaling a commitment to strengthening bilateral relations.
Pakistan-China Collaboration on Regional Stability
In a parallel development, Pakistan and China reaffirmed their shared commitment to restoring peace and stability in the Middle East and the wider region. This consensus emerged during a telephonic conversation between Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar and Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi.
Ishaq Dar later revealed on social media platform X that the two leaders discussed the evolving situation in West Asia. They agreed to support all efforts aimed at ensuring an immediate cessation of hostilities, the resumption of peace talks, the protection of non-combatants, the security of shipping lanes, and adherence to the principles of the United Nations Charter.
The leaders also pledged to continue their endeavors for resolving all disputes through dialogue and diplomacy. Wang Yi conveyed China's appreciation and support for Pakistan's ongoing diplomatic initiatives, reinforcing the strategic partnership between the two countries in addressing regional challenges.
