President Asif Ali Zardari witnessed the signing of a joint venture agreement and two memorandums of understanding (MoUs) between Pakistani and Chinese entities on Friday, May 1, 2026, during his visit to China. The deals cover construction machinery, animal vaccines, and medical technology, aiming to expand sectoral cooperation between the two countries.
Focus on Industrial Collaboration and Technology Transfer
The agreements emphasize industrial collaboration, healthcare technology, and livestock management, with a strong focus on local production, technology transfer, and skills development in Pakistan. One MoU, signed between Al Hassan Trade Establishment, Sany International Development, and Hainan Jiaolong International Technology, aims to strengthen cooperation in high-end equipment and construction machinery.
According to a statement from the President's Secretariat, the trilateral collaboration will support work related to the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC), strengthen cooperation in the supply of complete construction machinery and equipment, develop a professional talent training system, and provide after-sales operation and maintenance services. The parties will also explore investment opportunities for establishing factories in Pakistan and advancing localized production of construction machinery.
Animal Vaccines and Livestock Management
A separate joint venture agreement between the Sindh government's Livestock and Fisheries Department and China's Luoyang Modern Biology Group focuses on the distribution and supply of animal vaccines in Pakistan, including those for foot-and-mouth disease. The agreement also includes technology exchange and potential livestock tracking systems.
Medical Technology and Intelligent Robots
In the healthcare sector, Dr. Ziauddin Hospital signed an MoU with Shenzhen Weibang Technology to develop cooperation in medical technology, including the use of intelligent robots in clinical settings.
The deals were signed in the presence of senior officials from both countries, including Pakistan's envoy to China and representatives from the Sindh government. These agreements mark a significant step in deepening bilateral ties and fostering economic and technological collaboration between Pakistan and China.
