Pakistan Sends 34.5 Tonnes of Mangoes to 76 Countries in Diplomacy Push

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has launched Pakistan’s annual ‘Mango Diplomacy’ initiative, under which the country’s finest premium-quality mangoes will be presented as goodwill gifts to leaders and distinguished personalities across 76 countries. The move is a major soft diplomacy campaign aimed at strengthening Pakistan’s global image and showcasing one of its most celebrated agricultural products.

Scale of the Initiative

According to official details, nearly 34.5 tonnes of premium Pakistani mangoes will be dispatched in 6,896 smart gift packs, each weighing 5 kilograms, beginning on July 2. The initiative reflects Pakistan’s continued use of cultural and agricultural diplomacy to reinforce bilateral ties and promote the country’s world-renowned fruit internationally.

Key Recipient Countries

The largest consignments will be sent to China, Saudi Arabia, Türkiye, and the United Kingdom, reflecting the importance of these countries in Pakistan’s diplomatic, economic, and strategic relations. The recipients include heads of state and government, foreign ministers, ambassadors, senior diplomats, influential business leaders, and other distinguished international personalities, who will receive specially selected mangoes from Pakistan’s top orchards.

Soft Power and Agricultural Excellence

The initiative seeks to project a positive and welcoming image of Pakistan while highlighting the country’s agricultural excellence. Pakistani mangoes—particularly renowned varieties such as Sindhri and Chaunsa—are internationally recognized for their exceptional sweetness, aroma, and quality, making them one of Pakistan’s most successful horticultural exports. Officials say the campaign is designed to strengthen diplomatic goodwill, deepen people-to-people connections, promote Pakistan’s export potential, and enhance awareness of Pakistani agricultural products in international markets.

Established Tradition

By presenting the country’s signature summer fruit to global leaders and decision-makers, the government aims to reinforce Pakistan’s soft power while encouraging greater commercial interest in its horticulture sector. “Mango Diplomacy” has become a well-established feature of Pakistan’s foreign outreach, using the country’s iconic “King of Fruits” as a symbol of friendship, hospitality, and goodwill. The 2026 initiative is among the widest in recent years, extending Pakistan’s seasonal gift diplomacy across Asia, Europe, the Middle East, Africa, and the Americas.
