Pakistan Urges UK Envoy to Strengthen Bilateral Ties

Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar has underscored the importance of strengthening Pakistan's bilateral relations with the United Kingdom, urging the country's high commissioner-designate to work towards expanding cooperation in key areas.

Meeting with High Commissioner-Designate

According to a statement issued by the Foreign Office, Pakistan's High Commissioner-designate to the United Kingdom, Tipu Usman Chaudhry, called on the deputy prime minister before assuming his new assignment. The meeting took place on Saturday, July 11, 2026.

During the meeting, Dar directed the envoy-designate to intensify efforts to further deepen and broaden Pakistan-UK relations across political, economic, and people-to-people spheres. He also noted that the United Kingdom is home to one of the world's largest and most vibrant Pakistani diaspora communities, stressing that the provision of proactive consular services and welfare support to overseas Pakistanis should remain a top priority for the High Commission.

Appreciation and Wishes

The deputy prime minister appreciated Chaudhry's services as the Foreign Ministry's chief of protocol and wished him success in his new diplomatic assignment.

Chaudhry, a seasoned diplomat, is expected to take up his post in London shortly. The Foreign Office statement did not specify a timeline for his departure.
