Senior leaders of the Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) yesterday welcomed the conclusion of the peace deal between the United States and Iran, describing it as a significant diplomatic breakthrough that could contribute to regional stability, global peace, and enhanced economic cooperation.
Bilawal Bhutto Zardari's Statement
PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari termed the agreement an important first step towards reducing tensions and advancing peace through dialogue. In a statement, he said the positive development reflected the statesmanship and commitment of all parties involved. Bilawal commended Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif for his leadership and vision in facilitating the process and praised Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir for his steadfast support for regional stability.
He also acknowledged Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and diplomatic teams from all participating countries for their professionalism, perseverance, and behind-the-scenes efforts that helped make the agreement possible.
Sherry Rehman's Remarks
PPP Vice President Senator Sherry Rehman also welcomed the understanding between Washington and Tehran, describing it as a notable outcome of Pakistan’s diplomatic efforts. She said the agreement was a positive signal towards reducing tensions at the international level and demonstrated that even complex disputes could be resolved through dialogue, mutual understanding, and diplomacy.
She noted that the confidence-building process between the two countries would create new hopes for peace and cooperation across the region. According to Sherry Rehman, Pakistan played a responsible and balanced role in helping create an atmosphere conducive to reconciliation and dialogue. She congratulated President Asif Ali Zardari, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, Field Marshal Asim Munir, Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar, and the country’s diplomatic leadership for enhancing Pakistan’s international standing through their efforts.
She particularly praised the prime minister’s political foresight, the army chief’s role in promoting regional harmony and stability, and the foreign minister’s sustained diplomatic engagement.
Sherry Rehman further observed that the agreement highlighted the importance of mutual respect, cooperation, and political dialogue in resolving international disputes. She expressed hope that the development would open new avenues for peace, stability, trade, and economic cooperation in the region.
Nayyar Hussain Bukhari's Comments
Meanwhile, PPP Parliamentarians Secretary General Senator Nayyar Hussain Bukhari also welcomed the peace agreement and congratulated all parties involved in achieving the breakthrough. He said the efforts of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, Field Marshal Asim Munir, and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar for global peace and regional stability had yielded positive results.
Bukhari noted that the agreement would have far-reaching implications both globally and regionally, particularly by creating greater opportunities for economic cooperation and development. The PPP leaders collectively emphasized that diplomacy, dialogue, and constructive engagement remain the most effective means of resolving international disputes and expressed confidence that Pakistan would continue to play a positive role in promoting peace, moderation, and regional cooperation.
