UK Troops Intercept Drones, Missiles at Iraq Base

British soldiers from the Royal Air Force Regiment intercepted more than 100 drones and missiles targeting a coalition base in Iraq over a six-week period, according to Sky News. The base, which hosts UK, US, and other coalition forces, was hit by as many as 28 projectiles per day at the height of the conflict following the initial US-Israeli attack on Iran.

Ceasefire Achieved in April

A temporary ceasefire was agreed upon in April, bringing a halt to the attacks. The base has been a key site for coalition operations against Daesh for over a decade, but it became a major target for Iran and proxy groups retaliating against the US-Israeli strikes.

No Direct Hits for Three Weeks

Sky News reported that the base was one of the most targeted locations in the early stages of the conflict, but no direct hits had been recorded for three weeks before the ceasefire. The UK troops' efforts were crucial in defending the base and preventing casualties.
