Gilani Offers Condolences to Bereaved Families
Chairman Senate Syed Yusuf Raza Gilani on Sunday visited the families of victims who lost their lives in the Murree Express tragedy and expressed heartfelt condolences over the loss of 11 people at Mohalla Sotriwat in Multan.
Speaking to the bereaved families, Gilani said the entire city of Multan was mourning the tragedy, describing it as a devastating incident in which some families lost their members. He said no words could adequately express the grief caused by such a loss and prayed for eternal peace for the deceased and patience for their families.
Call for Government Support
“I offer my condolences on behalf of myself and my sons,” he said. Gilani urged the government to ensure the best possible medical treatment for the injured and urged the Punjab government to provide all possible assistance and compensation to the affected families.
He also called for the return of the victims’ personal belongings and valuables. The Senate chairman said he would ask the Multan administration to extend maximum support to the bereaved families and expressed hope that relief and assistance would reach them without delay.

On this occasion, MPA Iqbal Siraj, Aashique Hussain, Adeel Ejaz Ansari, Naseem Labar and many others were also present. The tragedy claimed 11 lives, prompting widespread mourning across Multan.
