He made these remarks during a ceremony held at the Embassy of Iran in Islamabad to mark the 37th anniversary of Imam Khomeini's passing.
Peaceful Nuclear Intentions
The ambassador emphasized that Iran does not seek to develop nuclear weapons, clarifying that uranium enrichment should not be viewed solely in the context of weapons development. He highlighted the peaceful applications of nuclear technology in medicine, scientific research, agriculture, and industry.
Imam Khomeini's Legacy
Ambassador Amiri Moghadam underscored Imam Khomeini's role in promoting unity among Muslim nations and praised his commitment to defending oppressed communities and opposing injustice. He described Imam Khomeini as a symbol of resistance and independence, noting that the progress, dignity, and resilience of the Islamic Republic are rooted in his farsighted leadership.
The ambassador also paid homage to the martyrs of the Sacred Defense and other revolutionary figures, reflecting on the impact of the Iranian Revolution on regional and global affairs, particularly in promoting Islamic values and opposing oppression.
Diplomatic Relations
He reiterated that Iran has consistently advocated for dialogue and diplomacy while retaining its right to self-defense, and appreciated the efforts of friendly countries, including Pakistan, in supporting peace initiatives and facilitating dialogue during regional tensions.
Ambassador Amiri Moghadam thanked Pakistan's political and military leadership for their support of peace and constructive engagement, and praised the Pakistani people for standing in solidarity with Iran during difficult times. He described relations between the two countries as strong and historic.
