Iran warns Strait of Hormuz will open only under its terms, not US threats
Iran warns Strait of Hormuz only under its terms

Iranian Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Qalibaf stated on Thursday that the Strait of Hormuz would open only under Iranian arrangements, dismissing US threats after a fresh wave of American strikes on Iran.

Qalibaf's Warning on Social Media

“The US has yet to learn that bullying and breaking promises no longer come without cost,” Qalibaf wrote on the US social media platform X. “Let me be clear: If you strike, you will be struck,” he added.

US Strikes Target Southern and Southeastern Iran

The remarks followed Iranian media reports of a new wave of US strikes late Wednesday targeting several locations in southern and southeastern Iran. The US Central Command (CENTCOM) later confirmed that American forces had launched additional strikes against Iran aimed at further degrading its ability to threaten freedom of navigation in the Strait of Hormuz.

Impact on Regional Stability

The Strait of Hormuz is a critical chokepoint for global oil shipments, and any disruption could have significant economic consequences. Qalibaf's statement underscores Iran's determination to control access to the waterway despite US military pressure.
