Pakistan Hosts 9th OIC Women Conference With 190 Delegates

Pakistan is set to host the 9th Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) Ministerial Conference on Women on July 12 and 13 in Islamabad. Delegations from 57 OIC member states began arriving at Islamabad International Airport on Saturday, where they were received by the Minister of State for Law and Justice.

The conference, titled "Socio-Economic and Political Empowerment of Women in the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation Countries: Challenges and Way Forward," is expected to bring together around 190 delegates. Representatives from member states, international organizations, and civil society will discuss strategies to enhance women's roles in OIC countries.

The two-day event will address key challenges hindering women's empowerment, including legal barriers, access to education, and economic participation. According to a government official, the conference aims to produce a roadmap for actionable commitments to improve women's status across the Muslim world.
