Pakistan and Saudi Arabia on Tuesday reaffirmed their commitment to further strengthening bilateral relations and advancing diplomatic efforts aimed at promoting regional peace and stability. This came during a meeting between Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Mohammad Ishaq Dar and Saudi Ambassador to Pakistan Nawaf bin Saeed Ahmad Al-Malkiy in Islamabad.
Review of Regional Situation and Islamabad MoU
The Foreign Office said Ambassador Al-Malkiy called on Ishaq Dar, where the two sides reviewed the evolving regional situation following the signing of the Islamabad Memorandum of Understanding (MoU). They exchanged views on the importance of sustained diplomatic engagement to address regional challenges.
Both sides underscored the need to intensify collective efforts in support of dialogue and diplomacy, emphasizing that continued engagement among regional stakeholders remains essential for promoting peace, stability and long-term cooperation.
Appreciation for Pakistan's Role
During the meeting, the Saudi envoy appreciated Pakistan’s sustained efforts to promote regional peace and security, particularly through the R-4 initiative and Islamabad’s leading role in facilitating negotiations that culminated in the signing of the Islamabad MoU.
Strategic Partnership and Future Cooperation
The discussions also highlighted the longstanding strategic partnership between Pakistan and Saudi Arabia, with both sides reaffirming their resolve to further expand cooperation across all areas of mutual interest, including political, economic and regional collaboration.
The meeting reflected the shared commitment of Islamabad and Riyadh to maintaining close coordination on regional developments while working together to strengthen bilateral relations and support initiatives aimed at fostering peace, dialogue and stability across the region.
