Pakistan on Wednesday urged the United States and Iran to exercise restraint and uphold the memorandum of understanding to halt the Middle East war, after renewed fighting broke out.
Pakistan's Official Statement
“Pakistan urges all sides to uphold their respective commitments under the Islamabad Memorandum of Understanding (MOU),” the foreign office said in a statement, which also calls on “all parties to exercise restraint.”
In the statement, the Foreign Office said a renewed conflict would serve no one’s interests and stressed that dialogue, sustained engagement and diplomacy remained the only viable path to achieving lasting peace and stability. “There is no alternative to continued engagement, dialogue and diplomacy to achieve the shared goal of peace in the region,” the statement said.
Commitment to Regional Peace
The Foreign Office also urged all sides to honour their commitments under the Islamabad Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), describing the agreement as an enduring foundation for fostering mutual understanding, respect and shared prosperity across the region and beyond.
Reaffirming Islamabad’s commitment to regional peace, the statement said Pakistan remained ready to continue playing a constructive role in promoting dialogue and supporting diplomatic efforts aimed at de-escalation and peaceful resolution of differences.
