Saudi Arabia has secured the top position among G20 nations in the 2025 Safety Index, according to data from the UN Sustainable Development Goals indicators database released by the Kingdom’s General Authority for Statistics on Monday. The findings, reported by the Saudi Press Agency (SPA), reveal that 97.7 percent of the population feels safe walking alone at night in their neighborhoods.
Key Safety Statistics by Demographics
The data further breaks down safety perceptions across different groups. It shows that 94.9 percent of women, 97 percent of Saudi citizens, and 97.2 percent of people aged 60-64 feel safe walking alone at night in residential areas. These figures underscore the high level of public security across the Kingdom.
Government Efforts and Vision 2030
The SPA highlighted that these results reflect the efforts of government agencies to maintain high levels of safety. They align with initiatives to strengthen security, stability, and quality of life across multiple sectors—including economic, food, environmental, health, social, political, intellectual, technological, and cybersecurity—in line with Saudi Vision 2030.
Methodology and Cultural Participation
The General Authority for Statistics conducts its work using a unified methodology based on the Statistical Business Process Manual, which adheres to international statistical standards. In a separate report, the authority noted that 75.3 percent of Saudi Arabia’s population attended cultural events or activities in 2025, indicating growing public participation in cultural activities across the Kingdom.
Raqam Saudi Initiative
The data was released under the Raqam Saudi initiative, which highlights national achievements, promotes national pride and citizenship values, and showcases the role of official statistics in tracking progress toward the goals of Vision 2030 and sustainable development.
