The National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency (NCCIA) Lahore has arrested two suspects allegedly involved in blackmailing and harassing women by threatening to leak their private photos and videos on social media.
Arrests Made Under Director's Directions
According to an NCCIA spokesperson, the arrests were made on the directions of Punjab NCCIA Director Muhammad Ali Waseem as part of the agency's ongoing crackdown against cyber-enabled harassment and online exploitation.
First Operation: Farhan Gohar Arrested
In the first operation, officials arrested Farhan Gohar during a raid in Lahore. A mobile phone containing objectionable material related to the victim was recovered from his possession. Preliminary investigations revealed that the suspect had allegedly threatened to upload the victim's private content on social media to blackmail her.
Second Operation: Muhammad Mushtaq Arrested from Kasur
In a separate operation, the agency arrested Muhammad Mushtaq from Kasur. Two mobile phones containing explicit material were recovered during the raid. Investigators said the suspect had allegedly blackmailed the victim and shared objectionable content with the victim's relatives in an attempt to harass and intimidate her.
Zero-Tolerance Policy Against Cyber Crimes
Punjab NCCIA Director Muhammad Ali Waseem said the agency has adopted a zero-tolerance policy against online blackmail, harassment, and exploitation involving explicit content. He said those who target the dignity, privacy, and honour of women and other citizens would face strict legal action, adding that all individuals involved in cybercrimes would be brought to justice.
