The Supreme Judicial Council (SJC) has dismissed a complaint filed against Islamabad High Court (IHC) Justice Muhammad Asif, who was accused of using his influence to pressure the families of two young women killed in a traffic accident involving his underage son.
Complaint Allegations
The complaint, submitted by retired Colonel Inam-ur-Rahim, alleged that Justice Asif misused his office to influence the investigation and legal proceedings, and pressured the victims’ families into a compromise that led to his son’s release on bail. The complaint further claimed that the judge used state machinery to coerce the heirs, amounting to a violation of the judicial code of conduct.
SJC Decision
The SJC took up the matter during its meeting on May 14 and formally notified the complainant of its decision. The council has not publicly disclosed detailed reasons behind its decision to dismiss the complaint. With this dismissal, the proceedings against Justice Asif before the Supreme Judicial Council have effectively concluded.
Background of the Incident
The case stems from a December 2025 incident in which a speeding black SUV allegedly driven by Justice Asif’s 16-year-old son, Abuzar, struck a scooter near the Pakistan National Council of Arts (PNCA), killing two young women who worked for an event management company. A judicial magistrate later granted bail to the accused after the victims’ families formally pardoned him in court. Robbery FIR registered after eight-day delay
