Punjab Launches Virtual Center for Educational Security to Protect Schools

In a significant move to enhance safety at educational institutions, the Punjab Safe Cities Authority (PSCA) has launched a Virtual Center for Educational Security under the directives of Chief Minister Punjab Maryam Nawaz Sharif. This landmark initiative aims to provide foolproof security by connecting all public and private schools and colleges across Punjab, including Lahore, to a centralized digital platform.

Real-Time Monitoring and Swift Response

According to a spokesperson for the Punjab Safe Cities Authority, the new system enables real-time monitoring and rapid response to any security threats. The registration of teachers and security staff into the Safe Cities integrated system is being conducted in phases, with over 30,000 educational institutions already registered and more than 130,000 teachers completed.

As part of the mechanism, teachers are required to update the security status of their institutions three times daily through the Public Safety App. If an institution is flagged as unsafe, the system instantly generates alerts for police and administrative authorities to ensure immediate action.

Innovative Features for Emergency Situations

The initiative includes advanced features such as Connect to Camera, allowing teachers to use their mobile phone cameras as temporary surveillance devices. This facilitates live video sharing during emergencies, providing instant visual access and enabling rapid emergency assistance to enhance the safety of students and staff.

Future Integration and Commitment

In the next phase, security cameras installed at educational institutions will be integrated with PSCA's live monitoring system to ensure a coordinated response to incidents. The Punjab Safe Cities Authority reaffirmed its commitment to safeguarding the educational community, emphasizing the effective use of modern technology to create a secure learning environment in line with Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif's vision.
