COAS Asim Munir Visits National Police Academy, Honors Martyrs, Stresses Modern Policing

Chief of Army Staff (COAS) and Chief of Defence Staff (CDF) Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, NI (M), HJ, made a significant visit to the National Police Academy in Islamabad on Tuesday, where he engaged with officers from the Police Service of Pakistan. The event was attended by the Federal Minister for Interior and the Minister of State for Interior, as confirmed by a press release from the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR).

Honoring Police Sacrifices and Martyrs

Upon his arrival, COAS Asim Munir was warmly welcomed by the Commandant of the National Police Academy and received a guard of honor from a smartly turned-out police contingent. In a solemn ceremony, he laid a wreath at the Police Martyrs’ Monument and offered Fateha, paying heartfelt tribute to the Shuhada of the Police who sacrificed their lives in the line of duty. These brave individuals dedicated themselves to safeguarding peace, upholding the rule of law, and ensuring public safety across Pakistan.

The Field Marshal acknowledged the supreme sacrifices made by police personnel in confronting terrorism, crime, and various internal security challenges. He emphasized that their unwavering commitment is crucial for maintaining national stability and security.

Focus on Modernization and Capacity Building

During the visit, COAS Asim Munir was briefed on the School for High-Impact Elite Law Enforcement Development (SHIELD), along with other training programs and initiatives aimed at capacity building and modernization of the police force. He highlighted the pivotal role of the police as the first line of defense in protecting the lives, property, and honor of citizens.

In his address to Inspectors General of Police (IGPs), Additional IGPs, and senior police officials, the Field Marshal underscored the importance of:

  • Inter-agency cooperation to enhance overall security efforts.
  • Modern policing practices to adapt to evolving threats.
  • Fostering public trust in law enforcement agencies.

He stressed that a strong, professional, and people-centric police force is indispensable for ensuring internal security and upholding the rule of law in Pakistan.
