The sacred annual ceremony of washing the Holy Ka’bah is scheduled for Tuesday, June 30, 2026 (15 Muharram 1448 Hijri), immediately after the Fajr prayer, according to the administration of the Two Holy Mosques.
Dignitaries and Participants
The prestigious event will be attended by special representatives of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, the Governor of Makkah, Imams of the Two Holy Mosques, diplomats from Muslim nations, and other high-ranking domestic and international dignitaries, as reported by Saudi media.
Ceremony Process
The ceremony begins with the opening of the golden door of the Baytullah in the presence of the Keeper of the Ka’bah (Sadin). The Governor of Makkah and esteemed guests then enter the interior. The General Authority for the Affairs of the Two Holy Mosques prepares a special solution using large quantities of blessed Zamzam water, premium rose water from Taif, and high-quality pure Oud oil.
Cleansing Methods
The cleansing combines traditional and modern methods. White cotton and silk cloths are soaked in the scented mixture of Zamzam and rose water, used to gently clean the interior walls and marble columns. The marble floor is washed with a mixture of Zamzam water and rose water, then dried using palm fronds and specialized wipers.
Anointing and Incense
After washing, the interior walls, columns, and corners are dried with towels and anointed with musk, amber, and precious perfumes. Pure Oud incense is applied, filling the environment with a serene fragrance.
Historical Significance
This ceremony is a living legacy of the Sunnah of the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH), who performed this act during the Conquest of Makkah. The Saudi government continues to uphold this tradition with great majesty each year.
According to the administration, the ceremony is carried out with profound devotion and strict adherence to established Islamic traditions and administrative protocols.
