In a significant move to strengthen traffic law enforcement and improve road discipline, the City Traffic Police Lahore has launched a strict crackdown against vehicles with outstanding e-challans. Chief Traffic Officer (CTO) Lahore, Syed Abdul Raheem Shirazi, has issued clear directives for indiscriminate action against all defaulters under a newly implemented zero-tolerance policy aimed at ensuring traffic discipline across the city.
Citizens Advised to Clear Pending E-Challans
Citizens have been advised to clear their pending e-challans promptly, as failure to do so may result in restrictions on access to various government services. According to the CTO Lahore, special enforcement teams have been deployed on major roads, including Mall Road, Jail Road, Main Boulevard Gulberg, Ferozepur Road, and Wahdat Road. Any vehicle found with unpaid e-challans will be required to clear all outstanding dues before being allowed to proceed.
Integration of Key Services
Furthermore, access to 14 key police services has been linked with e-challan compliance. Defaulters may face restrictions on services such as driving license issuance and renewal, character certificates, verification services, and other public facilitation services. CTO Syed Abdul Raheem Shirazi stated that Punjab Safe Cities Authority, Police Khidmat Markaz, and the Driving License Management System have now been integrated to ensure effective implementation of traffic laws and enhanced digital enforcement.
Common Violations Targeted
He added that e-challans are continuously being issued for violations including traffic signal breaches, lane line violations, one-way violations, emission-related offences, and other traffic law infringements. The CTO further emphasized that strict action is also underway against individuals attempting to evade enforcement by tampering with number plates, using tinted covers, applying black paper, or obscuring registration numbers.
Call for Public Cooperation
Urging citizens to cooperate, Syed Abdul Raheem Shirazi said that adherence to traffic laws is a shared responsibility and essential for maintaining a safe, organized, and efficient traffic system. He reiterated that the use of modern technology and digital systems is making traffic management more effective, and violators will not be able to escape accountability.
