Lahore High Court (LHC) Chief Justice Aalia Neelum laid the foundation stone of a Rs24 billion judicial tower on Saturday, a project designed to consolidate all subordinate courts in the provincial capital under a single roof while modernising infrastructure. The tower, scheduled for completion in 30 months, will feature 184 courtrooms, bar and record rooms, a parking plaza, and state-of-the-art facilities for judges, lawyers, litigants, and court staff.
Chief Justice's Site Visit and Initiatives
Before the foundation-laying ceremony, Chief Justice Neelum visited the Lahore Bar Association, where she inaugurated the solarisation of subordinate courts and an e-library. These initiatives aim to enhance energy efficiency and provide digital resources for legal professionals.
Federal Minister's Remarks
Addressing the ceremony, Federal Minister for Law and Justice Azam Nazeer Tarar described the tower as a historic project in Pakistan's judicial history. He stated that Justice Neelum, the first woman chief justice of the LHC, would leave behind an important legacy by prioritising reforms that benefit the justice system.

The judicial tower is expected to streamline court operations, reduce congestion, and improve access to justice for litigants. With 184 courtrooms, it will significantly expand capacity, while modern amenities aim to enhance working conditions for legal professionals and court staff.
