Armed gangs in Rawalpindi have shifted from black pickups to white luxury vehicles, despite efforts by the Crime Control Department (CCD) and Punjab Police to curb such activities. The latest incident occurred in Chaklala Scheme III, where an alleged gang rivalry led to a brazen raid on a house.
Raid Details and Police Response
According to sources, Chaklala police registered a case on the complaint of Mohammad Aitizaz, a resident of the targeted house. The complaint cites sections related to criminal intimidation and other offenses. The complainant stated that around 10 vehicles stopped outside his house, and 25 to 30 masked individuals got out. Some were armed, and they assaulted a household employee while recording the incident on mobile phones.
CCTV footage of the incident has surfaced, showing armed men standing outside the house alongside a convoy of luxury vehicles. The footage corroborates the complainant's account.
Gang Rivalry and Ongoing Threats
Authorities believe the raid was a result of a feud between two criminal groups. One group's leader is reportedly abroad, while the other remains active in Rawalpindi. The use of luxury vehicles marks a new trend, replacing the black pickups previously associated with such gangs.
Police have launched an investigation and are reviewing the CCTV footage to identify the perpetrators. No arrests have been made yet.
