A local court in Lahore on Wednesday granted the National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency (NCCIA) a six-day physical remand of YouTuber Rehan Tariq. The case involves allegations that Tariq posted a video on social media raising sensitive and controversial sectarian issues.
Court Proceedings
The NCCIA produced the accused before a judicial magistrate at the District Courts and requested his physical remand for further investigation. After hearing the agency’s arguments, the court approved the six-day remand and instructed investigators to present the accused again once the remand period expires.
Allegations Against Rehan Tariq
According to the investigation agency, an FIR has been registered against Rehan Tariq over allegations of raising sensitive and controversial sectarian issues in a video posted on social media. The NCCIA is probing the matter to determine the full extent of the violation.
Participants of the Judicial Fellowship program also called on the Chief Justice of Pakistan during the same day, though this is unrelated to the Tariq case.
