A man wanted in connection with the killing of a father and his son over a land dispute was found dead in a wooded area near his village on Thursday, with police suspecting he may have died by suicide.
Suspect Identified and Background
Police identified the deceased as Master Atif, a resident of Khinghar Mamdal village, who had been nominated as the prime suspect in Monday’s fatal shooting of Arshad Mahmood and his son, Musadaq Hussain. The two were allegedly shot with a 30-bore pistol following a dispute over land.
Discovery of the Body
According to local residents, Atif’s body was spotted in a nearby jungle and the police were alerted. SDPO Gujar Khan Syed Danial Hassan said the suspect had been on the run since the double homicide. He said the body had a gunshot wound to the head, while a pistol was recovered from the deceased’s hand.
Police Investigation and Suspicions
Based on the initial evidence collected from the scene, investigators suspect that the man may have taken his own life. The police officer said the actual cause of death would be established after the post-mortem examination and forensic analysis. He added that the investigation into the incident is continuing.
