Commissioner Muhammad Dawood Khan and Regional Police Officer (RPO) Ghulam Mubashir Maken personally monitored the main 9th Muharram mourning processions in Dera Ismail Khan on Thursday. The senior officials visited several Imambargahs and procession routes to review security arrangements and ensure smooth conduct of the religious events.

Officials Inspect Key Procession Points

Deputy Commissioner Hikmatullah Wazir, District Police Officer (DPO) Dera Ziauddin Ahmad, and members of the Peace Committee accompanied the commissioner and RPO during the visit. The delegation closely observed the mourning processions at Thallah Yallah Shah, Sharqi Sidan, and Bammu Shah. They also inspected security cordons, entry and exit points, and preparations along the routes designated for Ashura processions.

Directives for Vigilant Policing

During the visit, officials directed police personnel deployed on security duty to remain vigilant and closely monitor any suspicious activity. They emphasized maximum facilitation for mourners participating in the religious events. The administration has implemented a comprehensive security plan, including deployment of additional personnel and installation of surveillance cameras at sensitive points.

Broader Provincial Security Measures

Meanwhile, the Punjab government has rolled out a digital monitoring plan for Muharram across the province. The system enables real-time tracking of processions and security arrangements through a centralized command center. Dera Ismail Khan officials confirmed that all security protocols are being strictly followed to ensure peaceful observance of Muharram.
