Islamabad Police have arrested over 10,000 criminals during the first five months of the ongoing year, according to official details. Under the command of Inspector General of Police (IGP) Islamabad Syed Ali Nasir Rizvi, the force has conducted vigorous and impartial operations against criminal elements throughout 2026, achieving significant successes.
Arrests and Recoveries
A police spokesperson stated that in the first five months of 2026, Islamabad Police apprehended 10,286 individuals involved in various crimes. Stolen property worth over Rs633 million was recovered during this period. A total of 588 members belonging to 255 gangs involved in robbery, armed robbery, vehicle theft, and motorcycle theft were arrested. Police also recovered 93 vehicles and 308 motorcycles worth millions of rupees from their possession.
Blind Murder Cases Solved
Islamabad Police demonstrated effective performance in investigating blind murder cases, successfully tracing six cases and arresting 11 suspects. During the same period, 2,121 proclaimed offenders and previously convicted criminals were arrested, while 62 individuals involved in aerial firing were also taken into custody.
Weapon-Free Islamabad Campaign
Under the campaign “Weapon-Free Islamabad,” strict action was taken against illegal weapon holders, resulting in the arrest of 945 suspects. The recovered weapons included 88 Kalashnikovs/rifles, 19 shotguns, 782 pistols, 85 daggers, and 4,561 rounds of ammunition.
Anti-Drug Campaign
Under the special anti-drug campaign “Nasha Ab Nahin” (No More Drugs), 749 drug dealers were arrested, including 88 suspects involved in supplying drugs to educational institutions. During these operations, police recovered more than 132 kilograms of hashish, 81 kilograms of heroin, 72 kilograms of crystal meth (ice), and 3,251 bottles of liquor.
Community Engagement and Combing Operations
To provide immediate solutions to public issues and maintain direct contact with citizens, Islamabad Police organized more than 750 open courts during 2026, benefiting a large number of residents. During the campaign against professional beggars, more than 2,100 beggars were arrested. Additionally, over 899 search and combing operations were conducted to prevent crime and maintain law and order.
DIG Islamabad Muhammad Jawad Tariq stated that the protection of citizens’ lives and property remains Islamabad Police’s top priority. He added that all available resources are being utilized to eliminate crime, maintain law and order, and provide a safe environment for citizens, and that impartial action against criminal elements continues in the future, according to a press release.
