Nine more militants have been killed during the ongoing Operation Shaban in Balochistan, according to security sources, bringing the total number of militants eliminated in the operation to 52. Officials reported that the overall number of militants killed since July 5, including those neutralized in intelligence-based operations (IBOs), has now reached 88.
Joint Operations by Security Forces
Security sources said the Pakistan Army, Frontier Corps (FC), and police are jointly carrying out air and ground operations against militant hideouts across Balochistan under Operation Shaban. Officials added that the operation will continue until all militants involved are eliminated.
Background of Operation Shaban
Operation Shaban was launched on July 5 in the Shaban area of Quetta district after the deadly attack on the Mangi Dam pumping station police post, where 27 police personnel were martyred. During the assault, militants killed nine police officers, including two station house officers (SHOs), and abducted 18 others at gunpoint. The bodies of the kidnapped personnel were later recovered from the Zarghoon Gar mountainous area.
Ongoing Efforts and Impact
The coordinated efforts of the Pakistan Army, FC, and police have significantly degraded militant capabilities in the region. The operation aims to restore peace and security in Balochistan, with security forces maintaining pressure on militant networks. The elimination of 88 militants since July 5 underscores the effectiveness of these operations, though officials caution that the campaign will persist until all threats are neutralized.
