The Sindh Cabinet has approved the provincial budget for the fiscal year 2026–27. The provincial government is expected to present a budget exceeding Rs2.7 trillion for the upcoming financial year.
Salary and Pension Increases
The budget proposal includes a 7 per cent increase in salaries for government employees and a 5 per cent rise in pensions. According to sources, cabinet members were informed that the government had sought to grant at least a 10 per cent salary increase. However, due to financial constraints and prevailing economic challenges, the Sindh Government was unable to offer a larger pay raise.
Government's Commitment
Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah said the new budget had been designed with all segments of society in mind. He added that the Sindh Government, following the directives of Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, was implementing special measures aimed at poverty alleviation and improving the welfare of underprivileged communities.
The budget approval comes amid ongoing economic difficulties, but the government remains focused on providing relief to its employees and pensioners while addressing broader social welfare goals.
