Haripur Gets Development Projects via Net Hydel Power Funds

In a significant move for local development, the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government has announced a comprehensive plan to initiate various projects in Haripur district. The initiative will utilize financial resources from the Net Hydel Power allocation, marking a pivotal step for the region's progress.

Addressing Long-Standing Needs

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Minister for Elementary and Secondary Education, Arshad Ayub, presided over a crucial meeting at the Planning and Development Department on Wednesday. He declared that a series of both small and large-scale development projects are set to be launched in District Haripur. The primary objective of these projects is to tackle long-standing public needs and enhance the district's basic infrastructure, which has faced delays.

The minister emphasized that Haripur had been deprived of its rightful share of Net Hydel Power funds for an extended period. This deprivation had hindered several critical development initiatives. Ayub stressed that special planning would be implemented to ensure the transparent and effective utilization of these funds, with proper oversight during the execution phase.

Comprehensive Project Portfolio

The proposed development initiatives cover a wide range of public welfare sectors. Officials briefed the minister on the utilization plan for the 10 percent share of Net Hydel Power funds allocated to Haripur. The priority project list includes:

  • Construction of community centers, graveyards, and funeral prayer grounds.
  • Development of sports facilities and public parks for recreation.
  • Installation of solar-powered tube wells to support agriculture and water access.
  • Provision of essential medical equipment for local hospitals.
  • Renovation and construction of mosques.
  • Initiatives to ensure the supply of clean drinking water.
  • Road development projects to improve connectivity.
  • Irrigation-related projects to bolster the agricultural sector.

Focus on Transparency and Public Benefit

Minister Arshad Ayub made it clear that the focus will remain squarely on projects that offer direct benefits to the citizens and address the district's most pressing needs. "The focus will be on projects that directly benefit the people and address the district’s most pressing needs," he stated, reaffirming the government's commitment to impactful development.

The meeting was attended by Members of the Provincial Assembly Akbar Ayub and Malik Adil Iqbal, alongside senior officials from the Planning and Development Department. Their presence underscored the collective effort and political will behind this development push for Haripur.

This announcement signals a new chapter for Haripur, aiming to translate allocated funds into tangible improvements in the daily lives of its residents and the overall infrastructure of the district.
