The Punjab government has given its official nod to a substantial development package valued at Rs. 12 billion specifically for Faisalabad. The major focus of this investment is the crucial upgrade of the city's sewage infrastructure in its eastern and western zones.
Official Announcement and Project Details
Managing Director of the Water and Sanitation Agency (WASA), Saqib Raza, made the announcement on Monday. He clarified that the approval was granted on the direct orders of Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif. Raza provided an update on the project's progress, stating that the initial groundwork for the development schemes has already been finalized.
He further revealed that the process is moving forward swiftly, with technical bids submitted and tenders officially called for the project. This indicates a transition from the planning phase to the imminent execution stage.
Expected Timeline for Construction
Expressing optimism about the project's commencement, the WASA Managing Director projected that the physical construction work on these development schemes is expected to begin from the last week of the current month. This timeline suggests a prompt rollout following the administrative approvals.
