Senior Islamabad Police Officers Transferred to FIA

Government Shakes Up Security Personnel in Capital

The federal government has initiated significant transfers within Islamabad's security apparatus, moving two senior police officers to the Federal Investigation Agency. This administrative reshuffle comes amid a disturbing incident where criminals posing as FIA officials robbed a citizen in the capital.

Senior Officers Reassigned to Federal Agency

According to official notifications released by the Establishment Division on Saturday, Muhammad Jawad Tariq, a BS-19 officer of the Police Service of Pakistan (PSP), and Muhammad Shoaib Khan, a BS-18 officer of PSP, have been officially transferred to the FIA. Their services have been placed at the disposal of the Federal Investigation Agency, which operates under the Ministry of Interior and Narcotics Control.

FIA Uniforms Used in Brazen Tarnol Robbery

In a separate but concerning development, eight individuals wearing FIA uniforms allegedly robbed a citizen of Rs200,000 within the jurisdiction of Tarnol Police Station. Police sources confirmed that the incident occurred when eight unidentified men, claiming to be FIA officials, intercepted a local resident.

The victim, Muhammad Asif, a building contractor by profession, provided detailed accounts to the police. He stated that while driving home from Dhoke Paracha, two vehicles intercepted him. The occupants introduced themselves as FIA officials and demanded his identification documents.

Asif reported that the suspects, who appeared to be between 30 and 35 years old and wore uniforms resembling those of a government department, forced him into one of their vehicles. The criminals were traveling in a Toyota Corolla and a Suzuki Alto.

The assailants physically assaulted the contractor, threatened to kill him, and subsequently took him to an ATM booth in Tarnol, where they compelled him to withdraw Rs200,000. After obtaining the cash, the suspects fled the scene.

Victim Claims Police Inaction Despite Formal Complaint

Despite filing a formal complaint at the Tarnol Police Station, Muhammad Asif revealed that no concrete action had been taken by authorities even after three days of the incident. This alleged inaction raises serious questions about police responsiveness to such criminal activities in the capital.

The simultaneous occurrence of these two events - the transfer of police officers to FIA and the robbery by impersonators - highlights the ongoing challenges in law enforcement coordination and public safety in Islamabad. The incident also underscores the need for enhanced verification procedures for individuals claiming to be law enforcement officials.
