Major Road Construction Scheme Launched in Buner to Enhance Regional Connectivity
Peshawar – In a significant move aimed at bolstering regional development, the foundation stone for a major road construction and improvement scheme was laid in Buner on Saturday. This initiative marks a pivotal step towards enhancing connectivity and fostering economic growth in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
Project Details and Inauguration
Provincial Minister for Excise, Taxation and Narcotics Control, Syed Fakhar Jehan, officially inaugurated the Main Sar Qila–Etay Khwara road project. The scheme, which will be executed under the Annual Development Programme (ADP), carries an estimated cost of Rs1.42 billion. Upon completion, it is expected to substantially improve transport links between Buner and the adjoining Shangla district, thereby easing travel for residents and facilitating increased economic activity.
The project will be carried out by the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Highways Authority, ensuring professional oversight and implementation. The inauguration ceremony was attended by a diverse group of stakeholders, including local political figures, party representatives, and a large number of community elders and workers. Notable attendees included Azmat Khan, Barrister Gohar, Bakhrad Khan, Waqar Khan, Zaran Khan, and other local leaders, highlighting broad community support for the initiative.
Government Commitment to Infrastructure Development
Addressing the gathering, Provincial Minister Syed Fakhar Jehan emphasized the government's concrete measures to upgrade infrastructure and integrate underdeveloped areas into the mainstream of development. He noted that the project would not only provide safer and more efficient travel options but also contribute significantly to local economic growth.
Mr. Jehan stressed that transparency and quality are being prioritized in the execution of development schemes to ensure long-lasting public benefit. Referring to the vision of PTI founding chairman Imran Khan, he stated that the provincial government, under Chief Minister Muhammad Sohail Afridi, is committed to implementing sustainable welfare initiatives with enduring impact.
