"The operation has indeed avenged the heinous act and has brought the main perpetrator to justice," the ISPR declared. "Timely action of security forces also averted a major catastrophe that could have resulted in significant loss of life."

The ISPR statement specifically pointed to Indian sponsorship of the "Fitna-al-Khawarij" group, allegations that New Delhi has repeatedly denied.
