In a significant development for law enforcement in Punjab, thirty-eight officers officially received their promotions to the rank of Inspector during a formal ceremony held at the Central Police Office in Lahore.
A Landmark Achievement for Police Personnel
The promotion event was conducted under the direct supervision of Inspector General of Police Punjab, Dr. Usman Anwar. These officers earned their elevated positions after successfully passing the rigorous Punjab Public Service Commission examination, marking a pivotal moment in their law enforcement careers.
The ceremony took on a particularly emotional tone as family members of the promoted officers, including proud parents and children, attended the event to witness this professional milestone. Their presence highlighted the personal sacrifices and support systems behind these career achievements.
Substantial Promotions Under Current Leadership
IGP Dr. Usman Anwar shared significant statistics about police promotions during his address. He revealed that this year alone, seven separate promotion boards were organized specifically for elevations from sub-inspector to inspector positions.
These boards resulted in the promotion of 1,047 officers across Punjab. Providing broader context, the IGP detailed that over the past three and a half years, an impressive 27 promotion boards have facilitated the advancement of 3,456 officers to the inspector rank.
New Responsibilities and Expectations
Dr. Anwar delivered clear directives to the newly promoted inspectors, emphasizing that their new rank comes with increased responsibilities. He instructed them to demonstrate exemplary conduct in all professional matters while ensuring effective justice delivery and dedicated public service.
The IGP also issued specific instructions to Station House Officers, directing them to transform police stations into model institutions. This improvement initiative focuses on three key areas: enhancing the physical environment, improving citizen interaction protocols, and upgrading Police Service Center facilities.
The ceremony saw participation from several senior police officials, including Additional IG Punjab Sultan Ahmed Chaudhry, DIG Establishment-I Suleman Sultan Rana, DIG Establishment-II Captain (R) Liaquat Ali Malik, along with AIG Discipline, SP Dolphin, and various ASPs.
