Pakistan Army's National Security Workshop Successfully Concludes in Peshawar
The National Security Workshop, meticulously organised by the Pakistan Army, has drawn to a successful close in Peshawar, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. This significant event, held from January 11 to 22, served as a pivotal platform for fostering dialogue on critical national security matters.
Diverse Participation and Regional Representation
The workshop brought together a wide array of representatives from various sectors of society, including academia, media, political leadership, youth, and civil society. According to the organisers, the participation was notably skewed towards Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, with approximately 80 percent of the attendees hailing from this province, particularly the merged districts. The remaining 20 percent represented other regions across Pakistan, ensuring a national perspective.
In total, 91 participants actively engaged in the discussions, complemented by the involvement of 150 scholars from various universities in Peshawar. This blend of practitioners and academics enriched the discourse with both practical insights and theoretical frameworks.
High-Level Engagements and Interactive Sessions
Special interactive sessions were a highlight of the workshop, providing participants with direct access to the highest echelons of national leadership. These included engagements with the prime minister and other senior state officials, offering a unique opportunity for open dialogue and exchange of ideas.
During the concluding session, the Peshawar Corps Commander led detailed discussions on pressing national security challenges. Key topics addressed included:
- Strategies for countering misleading propaganda
- Effective anti-terrorism measures
- Broader security threats facing the nation
Inclusive Programme and Tribute to Sacrifices
The workshop's programme was designed to be inclusive, with participants from Balochistan also visiting Peshawar as part of the initiative, fostering inter-provincial collaboration and understanding.
At the closing ceremony, certificates were distributed among the participants in recognition of their contributions. A solemn floral tribute was laid at the Martyrs' Memorial, honouring the sacrifices of those who have given their lives for the country.
The participants collectively paid tribute to the immense sacrifices made by the Pakistan Armed Forces in the ongoing fight against terrorism. They reaffirmed their unwavering solidarity with the military, emphasising a united front in addressing security concerns.
This workshop underscores the Pakistan Army's commitment to engaging civil society in national security discourse, promoting a collaborative approach to safeguarding the nation's interests.
