Punjab Authorities Intensify Deportation of Illegal Foreign Residents

Authorities in Punjab have maintained a steady pace in the deportation of illegal foreign residents, with officials confirming on Friday that tens of thousands have been repatriated to date. This operation is a key component of broader initiatives aimed at regulating undocumented foreign nationals across the province.

Breakdown of Deportation Figures

A spokesperson for the Punjab Police provided detailed statistics, revealing that more than 34,000 foreign nationals have been deported from Lahore and other regions within Punjab. Among those repatriated, a significant portion consists of Afghan citizens. The spokesperson further specified that the deportees include over 13,000 men, 6,868 women, and more than 14,000 children, highlighting the diverse demographics affected by this operation.

Current Status and Categorization of Repatriated Individuals

According to the official, 201 individuals are currently detained at designated centers, awaiting their repatriation. The figures also categorize the repatriated individuals based on their documentation status: 10,665 possessed proof of residence, 11,114 held Afghan Citizen Cards, and 12,206 were classified as illegal foreign residents without valid documentation.
