Pakistan's rising tennis star Shoaib Khan produced a stunning performance to defeat top seed Leo Borg in the quarterfinals of the ITF M-15 tournament in Islamabad on Monday. The match, which lasted just over an hour, saw Shoaib dominate from the start, winning 6-2, 6-4.

Dominant Display

Shoaib, ranked 450 places below his Swedish opponent, showed no signs of nerves as he broke Borg's serve early in the first set. His powerful groundstrokes and precise serving kept Borg on the defensive throughout. The Pakistani player saved all three break points he faced, while converting four of his seven opportunities.

Second Set Battle

The second set was more competitive, with Borg fighting back to level at 4-4. However, Shoaib raised his game at the crucial moment, breaking Borg's serve to love and then serving out the match to secure a semifinal berth.

Speaking after the match, Shoaib expressed his delight at the victory. 'I am very happy with my performance today. Leo is a great player, but I stuck to my game plan and executed well,' he said. 'The support from the home crowd was amazing and gave me extra motivation.'

Semifinal Opponent

Shoaib will face third-seeded Russian Dmitry Popko in the semifinals. Popko advanced after a comfortable 6-3, 6-2 win over local wildcard Ahmed Kamil. The match is scheduled for Tuesday at the Islamabad Sports Complex.

Shoaib's run has been the highlight of the tournament so far, with the 22-year-old showing immense potential. A win in the semifinals would put him in contention for his first ITF title and a significant rankings boost.
