The Pakistan Olympic Association (POA) has confirmed a 36-member national contingent, including athletes and officials, to represent Pakistan at the XXIII Commonwealth Games in Glasgow, Scotland, scheduled from July 23 to August 2, 2026. Olympic gold medalist Arshad Nadeem will headline the team as Pakistan aims for strong performances across six sporting disciplines.
Sports and Contingent Leadership
Pakistan will compete in athletics, boxing, judo, gymnastics, lawn bowls, and swimming under allocations approved by Commonwealth Sport. The contingent will be led by Chef de Mission Maj Gen Adil Rehmani, with Major (R) Majid Waseem serving as General Team Manager and Dr Syed Meesaq Hussain Rizvi as Chief Medical Officer.
Athletics Squad Features Arshad Nadeem
The athletics team includes Olympic champion Arshad Nadeem, along with Faiqa Riaz, Noreen Hussain, Ansar Abbas, Muhammad Akhtar, Muhammad Ismail, and Muhammad Yasir. Other notable athletes are judoka Shah Hussain Shah, swimmers Jehanara Nabi, Hareem Malik, Hamza Asif, and Muhammad Ahmed Durrani, gymnast Shahzad Ali, and boxers Fatima Zahra, Malaika Zahid, Afzal Khan, Qudrat Ullah, and Sumama Rehman.
Departure Schedule
The gymnastics team will depart for Scotland on July 20, while the rest of the contingent leaves on July 21. The athletics squad will depart on July 24, with Arshad Nadeem and athletics coach Salman Iqbal Butt joining directly from Switzerland after an international competition.
Government and Federation Support
The POA thanked the Government of Pakistan and national sports federations for supporting athlete preparation and participation. The association expressed confidence that the contingent will uphold the highest standards of sportsmanship and strive for medal-winning performances while proudly representing Pakistan on the international stage.
