The Sindh Basketball Association (SBBA) has officially launched the second phase of its basketball development programme in interior Sindh. The initiative began with the inauguration of a newly renovated basketball court and a Summer Basketball Coaching Camp at the Khuhro Sports Complex in Larkana.
Renovated Court Inaugurated After 21 Years
Deputy Commissioner Larkana Tariq Manzoor Chandio formally inaugurated the renovated court, which had been restored after 21 years. The renovation was made possible through the support of Berger Paints Pakistan and the efforts of SBBA Patron Ghulam Muhammad Khan, who also serves as Director Sports under the Commissioner Karachi.
Upcoming Girls' Basketball Series and Festival
During the ceremony, the Deputy Commissioner announced that the Larkana administration will sponsor a Karachi-Larkana-Sukkur Girls’ Basketball Series in September, followed by a Basketball Festival in Larkana in December. He emphasized the Sindh government's commitment to providing modern sports facilities for young athletes and noted that substantial funds have been allocated in the current budget to further upgrade the Khuhro Sports Complex.
Support from Stakeholders
Ghulam Muhammad acknowledged the support of Commissioner Karachi Syed Hassan Naqvi, Berger Paints Pakistan, the Sindh Sports Board, Larkana district administration, Larkana University, and other stakeholders for making the project possible.
Ceremony Highlights
A large gathering of sports officials, players, coaches, basketball enthusiasts, and representatives of local organizations attended the ceremony. Traditional Sindhi Ajraks were presented to the distinguished guests. Berger Paints Pakistan honored Deputy Commissioner Tariq Manzoor Chandio with the Shaheed Benazir Bhutto Excellence in Sports Award in recognition of his support for sports development in the district.
