Punjab Age Group Swimming Championship Wraps Up with Grand Ceremony in Lahore

The Chief Minister Punjab Age Group Swimming Championship has successfully concluded, marked by a grand prize distribution ceremony held at the Punjab International Swimming Complex in Lahore. The event showcased exceptional talent from young swimmers across various age categories, highlighting the growing interest in aquatic sports in the region.

Outstanding Performers Across Age Groups

In the U-8 category, Zoraiz Umar Fayyaz and Taimoor Shaukat Karim delivered remarkable performances, securing top honors. For the U-10 group, Azlaan Sharjeel and Mustafa Shehryar Rana emerged as leaders, demonstrating skill and determination. Other notable winners included M. Abban Kashif in the U-12 category, Hassan Ali in the U-14 category, and M. Dayyan Kashif in the U-16 category, all of whom excelled in their respective competitions.

Strong Participation and Official Recognition

The championship attracted more than 400 male and female swimmers, reflecting a robust engagement in swimming at the grassroots level. Secretary Sports Punjab M. Ali and Director General of the Sports Board Punjab Tariq Qureshi attended the closing ceremony as chief guests, distributing prizes to the winners. M. Ali praised the high level of participation, noting it as an encouraging sign for sports development in Punjab and revealing that several promising swimmers had been identified during the event.

Financial Incentives and Future Plans

Tariq Qureshi announced that cash prizes totaling Rs1 million were awarded to top performers, emphasizing the government's commitment to rewarding athletic excellence. He assured that leading swimmers would receive advanced training to prepare them for higher-level competitions, such as national and international events. Additionally, Qureshi revealed plans for the CM Punjab National Marathon and Cycling Championship, scheduled for April 19, which is expected to draw over 10,000 athletes, further promoting sports activities in the province.

The championship not only celebrated current achievements but also set the stage for future sporting endeavors, aiming to nurture talent and enhance Punjab's sports infrastructure.
