PESHAWAR: Earthquake tremors were felt across multiple regions of Pakistan, including Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, on Monday, with the seismic event registering a magnitude of 5.7 on the Richter scale. According to the Seismological Center, the earthquake occurred at a depth of 170 kilometers, and its epicenter was located in the Afghanistan–Tajikistan border region.
Affected Areas
The tremors were experienced in several cities and districts, including Peshawar, Swat, Shangla, Buner, Malakand, Abbottabad, as well as surrounding areas. Residents, alarmed by the sudden and intense shaking, rushed out of their homes and offices in panic.
No Casualties Reported
Despite the intensity of the tremors, no casualties or property damage have been reported so far. Authorities have urged the public to remain calm and vigilant.
This earthquake serves as a reminder of the region's seismic activity, given its proximity to tectonic plate boundaries. The Seismological Center continues to monitor the situation.
