Free Public Transport Facility Abolished in Punjab

LAHORE: The facility of free travel in public transport, including Orange Line Train, Metro and Speedo bus services in Lahore and other cities has been abolished. According to Punjab Mass Transit Authority (PMA) sources, the government has decided to withdraw the free travel relief.

Background of the Free Travel Facility

The government had provided the free travel facility to provide relief to citizens due to the increase in prices of petroleum products. The initiative was aimed at easing the financial burden on commuters during a period of high inflation.

Official Statement

According to the authorities, this facility was given on a temporary basis, after which public transport will be operated as per the normal fares. The PMA has directed all concerned departments to implement the fare structure immediately.
