The free travel facility on public transport including Orange Line Train, Metro Bus, and Speedo bus services in Lahore and other cities has been abolished from today, June 13.
Decision by Punjab Government
According to sources from the Punjab Mass Transit Authority (PMA), the Punjab government has decided to withdraw the free travel relief. This facility was introduced temporarily to provide relief to citizens due to the increase in petroleum product prices.
Normal Fares to Resume
With the withdrawal of this facility, public transport will now operate as per normal fares. The government had provided free travel on a temporary basis, and now regular fare collection will be reinstated.
In a related development, the government plans to implement an Emission Trading System to address environmental concerns.
