The Punjab Counter Narcotics Force (CNF) has successfully thwarted a significant drug smuggling operation near Raiwind Chowk in Kasur. During the operation, a serving police constable and a veterinary doctor were arrested, and 314.7 kilograms of narcotics valued at over Rs70 million were seized.
Intelligence-Based Operation
According to officials, the District Narcotics Control Squad (NCS) Kasur conducted an intelligence-based operation. Police constable Muhammad Zaman Tufail and Dr. Aqib Raza, an alleged drug trafficker, were apprehended during the raid. The CNF recovered 93 kilograms of opium and 221.7 kilograms of hashish concealed in two vehicles.
Drug Supply Route
Authorities stated that the narcotics were being transported from Multan for distribution in Lahore and Kasur. Preliminary investigations suggest the contraband was intended for supply in various localities, including educational institutions.
Role of the Police Constable
Investigators alleged that the serving police official facilitated the transportation of drugs by using his position to help traffickers evade law enforcement.
Official Statements
Secretary Excise, Taxation and Narcotics Control Muhammad Masood Mukhtar termed the operation a major success in the province's anti-narcotics campaign. Director General Punjab CNF Brigadier Mazhar Iqbal reiterated the force's zero-tolerance policy against drug trafficking, describing narcotics as a serious threat to the country's youth.
